This is a unfinished project that I worked on at the GAIMS Center. Step Heroes is a mobile idle exergame where players create a plant warrior to fight again evil slime creatures that have captured various small forest critters. Players gain resources by walking, which they can then spend to upgrade their equipment and progress further into the forests’ dungeons. The video above showcases a quick rundown of the games screens.
My contributions for this project range from helping design the UI and UX experience, programming the front-end in Unity C# and all of the screens shown in the video above. I also assisted in making sure player logins would display the correct data saved on the GAIMS servers. This project was only released for private research tests, there is no playable version available to the public.

The images below show off the design progression for the main screen of the game- the battle screen. The overall layout of the battle itself changed drastically overtime as the design side of the team began to figure out the direction they wanted to take the game in visually. The bottom half of the screen was originally intended to show the stats for all of the hero characters. We received feedback that it took too many taps for the player to access their own equipment. Considering that this game was intended to be played for only a few minutes a day, I reworked the design for this screen to incorporate the Hero stat bars into the battle itself. Doing so allowed me to replace the information along the bottom half with shortcuts for all of the players equipment, thus saving the players from having to tap through at least 2 other screens to get to their stats.
